I spent more time taking off these STUPID stickers than I did on the WHOLE project....
Let dry for 2 hours and then sand
I used Kilz indoor satin paint from Walmart called Groovy Green.
Let dry for 2 hours with EACH coat!
I like it rough...
AGAIN....I like the dirty and rough look of things...
and DON'T forget to wait another 2 hours and then clear coat (I like FLAT CLEAR)
Can you spot the 80%er in me on this shot?
And I wish you could see the beautiful sun setting in the mirror.

I lurve it Ali! It turned out even better than I had imagined. That green is PERFECT! What is that color called? I think I need this project in my house, so if you move in and finds that it just doesn't go, remember the less fortunate!

Now that folks is a Re-Do! That's freakin fantabulous! I swear I didn't know how to paint with regular paint (versus spray paint). I'm glad you included some lessons with your awesome pics.

ReplyDeleteI saw a dresser at a local charity shop that they were throwing out because one of the drawers were missing. I thought about taking it but didnt know what to do with the "void"...so I left it...BOOOOOOO! The baskets are a great idea. Wish I was as creative/imaginative as you!

I love the antiqued look. I just redid my in-laws living room. Painted all the walls, added new decor and antiqued all the woodwork. My husband even made a mantle for their fireplace out of scrap wood. ReplyDeletecannwin- I used this stuff called Lickety Split? It's at your local Kirby store...or my Aunt told me to use, which I couldn't find, Undo...it's a scrapbook adhesive remover...I am sure my project would have went WAY faster if I would have had the 2nd....

I have a same type dresser, only it's a mini dresser, in pretty bad shape as far as the finish goes....I got it from an old beach house my boyfriend was remodeling, the owners just said for us to take what we wanted, I got some GREAT stuff....anyway, I have been wondering if the dresser is worth re-doing, and now that I've seen yours, I know that it is!

I was wondering how I was going to make it look good. I seriously need a class on re-doing stuff. I seriously have 3 dressers, bed, night stand and vanity I want to do, but I am too scared to try it! ReplyDeleteAli, this is PERFECT inspiration for a project that's had me overwhelmed (and therefore, procrastinating about...)!!! THANK YOU for such a beautiful piece! (And an AWESOME website with your susstahs!!) ;) I want to get this right since I've not taken on something quite this big, so I have a few clarifications... and I hope you see this post since this is so old - I'm sorta new to the blog world so don't know how all this works, shamefully. ;) How many coats of paint and clear coat? I want to do it right but as simple as possible, and quickly too. :) (Two babes under two will encourage EVERYTHING being simple and quick!) Since you stain and sand, wasn't sure if only one coat of paint would work. AND, the clear coat stuff I have recommends 3 coats, with light sanding between each (ugg!). I love love love the green, but may try with a bluish tint since it's for my "big boy's" bedroom... we'll see what I can find for the cheapest, probably. ;) THANKS again!!! And may God continue to bless you and your family as you share your talents and faith! :)

Did you know that if you spray the stickers with shout laundry spot cleaner you can get the stickers off within 5 minutes. All you do is spray a to wet down the whole sticker then you let it set about 5 minutes and wipe off. Make sure you use the Shout that comes in a spray can.
