My New Kitchen ReVAMPS....

This cute house had some TOTALLY drab features, and ones that REALLY freaked me out. Like the FLOOFY wood design around the China Hutch.  Of course this is the ONLY picture I took...so I had to make it work, and make you giggle...(I don't think my husband will giggle at this WRETCH Wretch-ditt-ally-ETCHED picture of him...hee hee hee!)

I am a little bit of a Rooster Nut...I kept telling myself I was going to accent in Pears to try to get away from the "barn theme"...BUT it just couldn't happen...Call me a "daddy's girl...." I love myself some Roosters and Chickens and I do LOVE me some COLOR...hence the walls got a "HELLO" revamp

I collected things from DI, (of course) along with somethings I've held onto for awhile knowing  I'd use them somewhere...sometime.  I am still looking for some more old pots and pan in the old retro colors to hang above the sink and add them here and there on the walls.

2X 7/16" 48" Spring Tension Rods (also Walmart)
And RaNdoM old peices that POP

Boys Bed Part 2

Remember this post?

 When my hubby and made a bed from KNOCK OFF WOOD ?

And when I say ..."...and I" I mostly mean my hottie of a man slave!

Well, we finally got around to painting it!

Then I sanded the edges slightly.

And we gave it a nice stain coat. We used Dark Walnut.

And finally assembled it in the boys room!

Notice the mattress underneath?

We changed the plans slightly to leave room for a trundle. So that is our next project!

I absolutely love it!

I hated to show it to you without the new bedding. But that will have to be another post. When I am finished. 

So keep watching for that post!

Candle Stick Hanger Tutorial

Holy Shmoly Ohllie!

I apologize to all of you who have emailed for a how to on this project. I am finally finding some windows of free time to get on here!

So first if you missed the posts for the Make and Takes click here and here! 

Of course the version of these candle hangers will be slightly different 'cause the store to buy those finials is closed until after Memorial Day. 

But I figured many of you might have a hard time finding those anyways, so I modified it with pieces I am sure you can find!

We are going to make these lovelies!

What you will need!

3 Fence Post toppers (Found at Home depot..we also used these for this tutorial!)

 2x2 cut down into 3 sizes....(2) 14inch pieces and (1) 12 inch piece

 1x4 cut down into  3 sizes... all 3 1/2 inches long

Wood Glue

Wood Filler

Pin Nailer or Screw Gun
Sand paper

And..

 3 hooks that look like this. (Found these at Walmart for 2.97 each! Yikes! But I like the two heights)

and these little guys...

 I am not sure what they are called but I got a big package of them at the local craft store. They are bowled on the other side. 

And if your lucky  you could add a slave to your list too!

I had my man slave on hand to help out....tehe...he hates when I call him that!

Now let's begin shall we?!

First take your 1x4 pieces and center them on your 2x2 like so..

 If you don't havea pin nailer or screw gun to nail it down I am sure wood glue would work great. Just be patient and let it dry!

Next, pin nail the base you just made to the fence topper. Like so...

Then, take your hooks and screw them in. I did mine fairly close to the top of the 2x2.

Now, you are ready to add the top.

Dab a  little wood glue to the edges of the bottom of these wood pieces and press it down to the top. Make sure you wait and let the wood glue dry fully!

When the toppers are dry, fill in the top holes with a little wood filler. Let it dry and sand it down.

Now you re ready to paint. Usually when I teach a Make and Take class we just use indoor paints. But if you are doing this yourself....I suggest to take 1/2 the time  and use spray paint!

Walmart .98 spray paint! Gotta love it!

Give it a coat or two! 

And complete lovely Candle hangers that are versatile and fun to use!

Hutch & Desk Redo

I have had this Hutch for years and the first time I redid it...it turned out like this for my little girls room, to hold blankets, diapers, and misc. stuff! well, I need in in the move for my T.V. and I picked a Old Barn Red to change the Beauty around. 

And I decided when I found this deck for $10 at my local D.I.   I needed it to be matchy for my Computer Desk in our T.V. room. :O)

                                          Paint...pAinT...paINt.... then SAnD....sAnd.... SanD...

First I popped out the middle window in the shelf and  then added wire mesh so the remote would still work for the VCR/DVD and games. I usually stain everything...but after I sanded these I just liked the raw old look...so I refrained and kept it raw :O)

I love the black peeking through  on the desk. And both pieces just give the room a Farm look.

LOVE IT!

Tile Backsplash

So I have been "content" with my kitchen for awhile now. Knowing that eventually I would change things and make it pop out more.
So when my fabulous sister in law ( picture below),

offered for her and her talented mother (picture below),

to tile some things for me, of course I jumped on it. 

I have seen their work and it is amazing! 

So after  the purchase of some fabulous tile, some free slave labor (tehe) , and some elbow grease, my back splash is even better than I envisioned!

Look at these ladies hard at work. 

I pretty much was good for nothing.
