Refurbish FEVER

Some people get spring fever, I just tend to get REFURBISH FEVER. The sun comes out to play with it's glorious rays of goodness and I just want to spray paint, hammer, sand, just about everything in sight!

My cousin, Ashlyn, and I spent an afternoon exploring the many thrift stores in this area. And oh my goodness, I found WAY too many treasures. (Well, they WILL be treasures when I am finished with them)

I saw this lamp and wanted it instantly.
The details on this lamp are so beautiful.

I don't think the original look is awful. I toyed with the idea to leave it, since gold is really trendy right now, but finally came to the conclusion to do it a crisp white finish . I gave it two coats of spray and then scuffed it up a bit to draw out all those details. I finished it off with a thick clear coat of spray to seal it.

I found this lamp shade at Ross for $5.99. I am loving all the linen looks lately. This lamp shade has a linen look with flecks of gold .
I am loving the end result. Perfect for my tv stand. (Watch for a post on that soon too)

Anybody else have refurbish fever??

Toodles,
Bon

Lamp Makeover

I have lots of lamps.
Whenever I find one at a thrift store for $3.00 or less I add it to my cart.
I've had this one laying around for awhile now and it definitely needed some tlc.
So I spray painted it white....
....and slightly sanded the edges to give it a shabby chic feel.
Then I found this lamp shade.....
....and gave it a good coat of blue spray paint also.

An easy peasy lamp makeover! Perfect for my craft room.

No Sew Ruffle Lamp Shade

MMMM..... I am loving all the neutral pallets lately. Burlap, canvas, duck weave, all incredibly delish! So slowly I am trying to move out some of the bolder colors in my front room and go more neutral, fresh, and light!
One piece at a time I will get there.
So I started with this lamp shade.
Notice the lovely stain I can't get out....HIDEOUS!

I took this luscious fabric....oh I love the woven earthy look!
Next I cut it into strips.
Then, because I am a horrid at sewing, I hot glued pleats all the way down each of my strips.
I then layered each strip onto the lamp shade hot gluing those down as well.
I added a little rick rack around the top and a flower ...
And voila! New, no sew, lamp shade.
Can't wait to do some pillows!
