Flared Jeans into Skinny Jeans Tutorial

It's a happy day when you fit into jeans that you've been waiting for YEARS to fit again.

But it's a sad day when you realize they are grossly out of style . . . and maybe *ahem* they were even out of style the last time you wore them.

Start with your wretched flares . . .
Try them on inside-out.
Pin (on the outside) one leg to a comfortable fit,
be sure to leave at least an inch away from your
legs--it will be smaller when you sew it. (You can
go as loose or tight as you want--I don't like my
jeans skin tight on my calves. These are actually
more "boot cut" than skinny jeans.
Remove jeans and mark pins with a highlighter
Remove pins, and use a ruler to connect your pin
dashes--make the line as straight as you can
[Only YOU can prevent forest fires]
Sew over the line, be sure to backstitch several times at both ends.
And sew a second seam alongside the first . . .
Here's how it looks before cutting . . .
Cut away the flare, not too close to the seam
Fold your sewn and cut leg over the "un-sewn" one.  I used my iron
on this step to make sure the legs were completely the same.
Cut the"un-sewn" pant leg.  Then sew a double seam up the side.
Try those puppies on!
Totally got these cuties at Deseret Industries
I don't care if light-colored jeans are out.
I love 'em.

A couple ReFashions

 Applique Skull Onesie...
I LOVE LOVE LOVE wonder under....its SO simple to use and makes my brain create  fun things for those extra special gifts.
I just whipped up this cute skull for K.K's little one.
What do you think?
Just simply make your own pattern and iron on!

And now onto MAKING a shirt that doesn't fit you anymore into your childs shirt.
First inside out the shirt you are shrinking...and lay one of your kids shirts on top of it....
Cut off the extra on the bottom (which you can hem if you want...I don't)

outline with a pen, marker, pencil (whatever) and sew up and out the arm twice...THEN cut off the excess.  Most people would separate the arm and add it again...I am too lazy and this works for me

 Heres another pic...
super simple, and new clothes for the kids.... :O)

Soft Scrub....SWEET STUFF

My sister-in-law, Carrie, used soft scrub with foam stamp, and stamped words or designs on shirts...so I thought I'd make a go at it, and add some of my silly creatures

On the back of the bad boy was one of my skulls!
Try it out on an old shirt, to see what you can come up with!
It's super fun!

T-Shirt Re-vamp

So I live 6 houses away from a BRAND NEW DI, and I decided I wanted to take a go at "refashioning" for my first time.
I have had this idea to make a loose fit/trendy/tank you see all the girls wearing, but TOO expensive for my taste.
So I knew I needed a shirt a couple sizes too big....(only $3 at my local DI)

So this is what I found. And forgive me, but I got a little excited last night and forgot to take pictures with each step.
I totally made it up as I went along...so I don't know if it would have helped.
BUT I LUUUUURVE, love, LURVE, the finished product.
Right now I have totally needed some shirt to disguise the growing belly underneath the clothes, which is only going to get bigger in the next 6 months.... so I think I will try to make a couple more and be slower to take pictures at each step.... for all of YOU!

My FIRST refashion!
What do you think?

Easy Refashion

So I have decided that when it comes to an EASY refashion pieces, I can do it!
Don't get me wrong. I have all sorts of fashion ideas but lack two vital parts of creating.
Drawing.
I totally draw like my six year old and even then I think I might be insulting him.
And I can't sew.
A straight line I can handle. (As long as the you don't look close cause my line, isn't so straight.)
I have seen pieces at the store that I think "Oh if only I could take that in" and have tried. But after seeing the end result, I need to stick to the easy things!
SOOOO.....here is my easy and inexpensive refashioned pieces.

I found these two dresses at the DI for $7.00 together. I found them months apart and totally lucked out 'cause I wanted white Christmas dresses this year!

I took the first dress and took off the sage ribbon.  Then to each I added this gorgeous red lace I found also at a thrift store, brand new I might add!

It is nice and thick! And makes such a statement!

Love the ribbon, but they both still needed some flare. So I ran to Robert's and got two flowers at 50% off. Then I added them to the dresses. A little stitch and a safety pin so the flower can be easily removed!

Much better!

And now two beautiful dresses ready for Christmas, wrapped up under the tree! With my whole total for two dresses @ only $12.00. Not to shabby!
Now to find the perfect sweaters and shoes!

Run now!
Go get your re-fashion on!
