Upcycled Cheese Cloche

I have been looking for one of these for, like, EVER!!!

The possibilities for a cheese cloche (none of which include any cheese for me) are endless.
I scored this one for $2.00 at the DI.
I am still on the hunt for several more, but for now, one will have to do.

I simply pulled out my trusty can of spray paint and gave the base a good coat..

Then I sanded it down, washed the glass, and it was ready to display.
Just in time for my fall entry table.

And of course a side by side.....

Knick Knacks turned FAB

One of the most satisfying ways to decorate is to accessorize. After a room is finished, it is all about the little details. The pillows, the pictures on the wall, the shelves, the side tables and mirrors, and of course some lovely knick knacks.
Those little finds can provide such a WOW impact to a room or even just add the right splash of color.

When you go to the thrift store, keep an open mind. Pretty much anything can be spray painted or painted. So think outside of the box, peruse Pinterest for some fabulous ideas, and be creative.

Here are some previous posts
A owl turned Fabulous-

A plastic deer bank turned into a jewelry holder

This ceramic elephant turned into a book weight

Some other fun finds have included small trinket unicorns, swans, squirrels, birds (one of my favorites), and anything that would match your current home decor.

Here are some of the birds I have done recently....I can't pass a lil' bird by without considering buying it.

Spray painting a trinket is easy.
1. Simply wipe down your find with a rag and some warm water.
2. Make sure to choose your spray paint according to your item
(you can find specific spray paint for specific surfaces - metal, plastic, stone, etc.)
3. Spray Paint your item and let dry.

I just found this children's toy at the thrift store for  50 cents.
I decided on a metallic gold color.

EASY PEASY

 Happy thrift store finding.
I hope you all find something wonderful to redo!

Toodles,
Bon

Thrift Store Accesories

There are so many simple ways to accessorize your home on a budget. You can find beautiful pieces that just need  little to no work, to help beautify your home at fractions of the cost.

Here are a few past projects with before and after pictures.

Remember this project?
You can find step by step instructions - HERE

We turned a large thrift store print in a chic' and simplistic statement piece.

Thrift store finds help you to be creative.

Remember this fabulous tray?

When you have established what kind of pieces you want in your home. Make a list. Writing it down can help you when you are thrifting to remember what kind of items you are looking for.

I am always on the look out for vases and pots. I LOVE them! All shapes and sizes. But let's face it- they aren't always in the colors I am wanting. But color is an easy fix. Paint can transform anything.

I found this lovely piece while thrifting with a friend.
The color isn't awful, it just doesn't match my accent colors in my home.
So I grabbed my favorite green shade of spray paint.

After a coat of spray it was ready to place above my cabinets.

All of these pieces were found at a thrift store. Including the candles.
Why spend more, when you can spend less?

So the next time you want to accesorize your home, don't rule out some thrift store finds.
Happy Crafting

Gold Fever

I can't get enough of the gold trend! I find myself searching for any little trinkets that would look lovely with a new layer of gold spray.

I found this little glass owl at the DI for  .25.
Score, right!?
{Don't mind my cell picture for the before. My cell phone should be at the DI. It is ancient.}

THIS....

...is my new favorite spray paint!!
I did a rough coat! I wanted it to look a bit cracked and weathered.

 Oh lala!!
Now I am off to find something else to splash with gold!

Happy Crafting!

Plastic Deer Turned Fab

I found this plastic piggie bank deer at a thrift store for .50 cents.
I think the few people around me thought I was crazy when I grasped it off the shelf in a death grip smiling.  I knew exactly what I wanted it for , regardless of their dismay.

When I got home with this wretchid piece, my kids fought over whose piggy bank it would be.
Much to their disappointment, I had to tell them "No one's."

I couldn't wait to spray paint this piece with my new favorite spray paint.
Have you tried this?
It is the perfect gold shade and the coverage is amazing. It also dries incredibly fast!
I haven't had to apply a double coat on anything I have used it on yet.

After a coat of spray paint this lil' fella was ready for his new spot in the girls room.

A perfect trinket, bracelet, and ring holder for my little girls bedroom.
Do you love it as much as I do?

XOXO,
BON

Little Changes

I am in FULL NESTING mode.
I want to get a million projects done, but move like a sloth.  It seems like I am getting lots done but they are little things here and there.
It is amazing how simple little things can change a look or feel of a room!
I have been adding to my lamp shades like crazy!
I took this same "HOW TO" and made some flowers to add a little extra to some of my lamp shades.

Girls Room Lamp Before....
and AFTER...
So much better and easy to make a difference!
I decided these need some refreshing too!
A little sewing and some new fresh fabric sure makes a HUGE difference!
And look at this HUGE project I am going to tackle soon for my girls room!
Oh, I am so in love with this piece.
I picked this up for $35 @ a thrift store.
She needs some TLC but she is going to be fabulous.
So watch for that transformation!
Now onto my Bedroom.
 Lamp Before.....
And AFTER......
It added a perfect color splash.
And I followed the color splash theme and added a little extra to my candlesticks too!

Before....
I simply painted a frame yellow, sanded it and hooked it on!
Hopefully I can show you the other fun things I have been working on big and small soon!
Until then
 XoxO,
Bon

Bling Your Jeans

You have all seen them.... those rhinestone studded pockets of the trendy girl jeans.
Only problem is they can cost a fortune.
Well, not anymore.

My friend Shauna let me in on a little secret.
You can totally do it yourself with out a bedazzler.
All you need is....
A super cute pair of thrift store jeans! Found this cute pair for $4.00 for my 10 yr old.
Loved the big stitching and they already had a diamond studded button pocket!
Some E6000. I found mine @ Walmart in the Craft section.
Some flat backed diamond accessories to bling out your jean!

My friend said she has been doing this forever.
That after letting it adhere for the adequate amount of time you can machine wash your jeans too!
SCORE!

I started out by adding a role of bling right along the pocket flap...
Then added one more role of bling for pizzaz.
I could have done tons more...but my oldest doesn't like anything "too girly" (in her words) So this amount was perfect!
 What are you waiting for?
Go bling some jeans!
You know you want to!
XOXO,
Bon
